Canada Announces New Penalties for Meat Safety Violations

The Government of Canada has announced the introduction of new penalties for businesses that fail to abide by the Canadian meat safety requirements.

The increased fines, known as Administrative Monetary Penalties, will provide the Canadian Food Inspection Agency with additional enforcement options, such as applying penalties to a company that withholds test results, information or records needed for a food safety investigation.
