BSMI Issues Announcement for Legal Inspection of Toys Commodities

The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) of Taiwan has issued an Announcement for Legal Inspection of Toys Commodities which addresses the publication of the revised version of CNS 4797 “Safety of toys (General requirements).” The revisions include:

1) Changing the limitation of formamide from 2 ppm to 200 ppm

2) The test methods announced by Ministry of Health and Welfare for food microorganisms are adopted as biological safety requirement for toys containing a liquid substance

The announcement also identifies the following:

  • Inspection items
  • Conformity assessment procedures
  • Monitoring Inspection
  • Registration of Product Certification (RPC) Scheme
  • Through the announcement, BSMI also establishes that its office and branches are the assigned locations for the application of Monitoring Inspection or Registration of Product Certification.
