Brazil Drafts Technical Regulation for Toys Including Parts & Accessories

The National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO) of Brazil has drafted a toy technical regulation to monitor the safety of parts and accessories under the Ordinance Nº 310 (July 1, 2014), highlighting toys mandatory characteristics. The proposed draft will also regulate the safety of wheeled toys designed for children.

Wheeled toys covered by the draft are:

  • Tricycles
  • Scooters
  • Pedal cars
  • Dolls' carriages

The draft is open for public consultation until September 1, 2014.
