ASTM Releases Standard for Determination of “Microwave Safe for Reheating” for Ceramicware

December 14, 2016

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International has released a standard specifically for the determination of “microwave safe” for reheating ceramicware. The standard is named ASTM C1607 - 12(2016) Standard Test Method for Determination of “Microwave Safe for Reheating” for Ceramicware.

This standard aims to determine the suitability of ceramicware for use in microwave re-heating applications. Ceramicware is defined in this standard as intended for microwave use but must also be evaluated for thermal shock resistance and pass the 325°F criteria as described in Test Method C554.

The standard was released on November 14, 2016.
