ASTM Opposes Proposed ISO NWIP on Wheeled Child Conveyances

October 13, 2016

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) is opposing the proposed new work item proposal (NWIP) on wheeled child conveyances.

ASTM is opposing the NWIP because the coverage of the proposed standard is already covered by ASTM F833 Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Carriages and Strollers.

Also, ASTM points out that ASTM F833 is the foundation and source of 16 CFR 1227, the Safety Standard for Carriages and Strollers. 16 CFR 1227 is a federal regulation intended for carriages and strollers in the USA.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) expresses the same standard on the proposed NWIP.
