On December 4, 2019, resolution 800/2019 was published, establishing the implementation date for energy efficiency requirements for electric water circulation pumps with nominal electrical power from 0.18 kW to 5.5 kW including the peripheral type, monoblock centrifuges; deep-well submerged centrifuges; and centrifuge pressurizers in Argentina with the following phased effective dates:
- First phase: August 28, 2020
- Second phase: February 5, 2022
For the first phase, all manufacturers and importers having water pumps to be imported/commercialized in Argentina need to show a letter proving the start of the certification process. This letter must be issued by the certification office.
For the second phase, a valid certificate and displaying the energy efficiency label on the product is mandatory within the implementation date of February 5, 2022.
This regulation does not apply to:
- Circulating dry rotor electric pumps for air conditioning
- Multistage electric pumps
- Submerged electric pumps other than deep well
- Self-priming electric swimming pool pumps
- Self-draining hydromassage pumps
- Coupled pumps
The technical requirements are described in IRAM 62408 “Energy efficiency labeling for household electric pumps.” Compliance with this resolution will be through the mark of conformity (type 5) scheme. Follow up every 18 months of the quality system at the factory is required as well as complete testing of products taken from the marketplace.
The manufacturer must report the maximum efficiency of the electric pump, the total head of the pump and the flow at the peak of performance.
