UL recognized as NCB and CBTL for IEC 62443 – Industrial Automation and Control Systems
The growth of digitization in manufacturing and critical infrastructure demands that products become smarter and more interconnected. As a result, they also become more vulnerable to cyber threats. Network segmentation and firewalls for these components are no longer a sufficient means to address cyber threats. This is due to the increased use of standardized hardware and software components in networked automation and control systems. The IEC 62443 family of standards provides guidance for manufacturers and system integrators to build strong security measures into their processes to help mitigate these security risks for asset owners.
Recently, the IECEE (IEC System for Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components) acknowledged UL’s status as an issuing and recognizing National Certification Body (NCB) and CB Test Lab (CBTL) for the IECEE Industrial Cybersecurity Program including the IEC 62443 standards -2-4, -2-4 with Amendment 1, -3-3 and -4-1.
UL can now help you obtain international certifications for cybersecurity from a single certified testing body. Bundling services help you accelerate time-to-market, reduce costs, improve security and overcome market risk and complexity.
In addition to the UL cyber lab in Northbrook, Ill – and to better serve local markets – UL recently opened a cybersecurity laboratory in Frankfurt, Germany. The new facility offers a full suite of services to support cybersecurity for industrial automation and control systems, including the complete range of standards-based advisory, testing and certification services.
Instilling cybersecurity rigor into your processes will help you:
- Streamline global market access
- Gain transparency and validation of supply chain security for a more secure and robust business environment
- Create brand differentiation and strengthen product preference
