Understanding Approved Supervising Station System Types

Learn about the key components of UL’s fire alarm certificate services program and how it can help to increase code compliance in your community.

Two code authorities looking at paperwork

This is the second in a series of four webinars designed to give code authorities and alarm companies a better understanding of UL’s alarm certificate services program related to nationally recognized codes and standards. This webinar takes a deep dive into what NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, says about the different types of supervising station systems along with the pros and cons of the various types that are most commonly utilized today. It is presented in a manner that bridges the gap between the technical language in NFPA 72 and easy to understand terms that make sense using real world examples. Following successful completion of this webinar, a code authority will have a better understanding of the difference between the supervising station types allowed by NFPA 72 and can make an informed decision when choosing or identifying a system type for a property.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand UL’s program for fire alarm systems based on NFPA 72 requirements
  • Learn how UL audits alarm service providers
  • Explain how UL’s certification of alarm system services helps to provide confidence in code compliant fire alarm systems

Speaker:
