Study: Frozen Fruits Contain Same Nutritional Value as Corresponding Fresh Items

December 18, 2013

According to a study from the Frozen Food Foundation and the University of Georgia, the nutritional value of many frozen fruits and vegetables is generally equal to that of their fresh counterparts.

Results also revealed that the nutritional value of some frozen fruits and vegetables was greater than that of fresh-stored produce, especially with respect to Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and folates. This determination is likely due to the nutrient degradation that occurs in fresh produce during storage.
