The Standardization Administration of China (SAC) has issued National Standard of the P.R.C., General Safety Specification of Umbrellas.
The standard specifies the following as enumerated in the National Standard:

- Requirements
- Test methods
- Inspection rules
- Marking
- Package
- Transportation
- Storage
The standard covers umbrellas, handheld and fixed from different fabric and stand.
