Learn how UL can help lighting manufacturers meet new EMC certification requirements through testing and certification to the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) scheme.

On Dec. 31, 2021, the National Standardization Administration of the State Administration for Market Regulation published the new EMC standard edition for lighting appliances, GB/T 17743-2021 “Limits and methods of measurement of radio disturbance characteristics of electrical lighting and similar equipment” (based on CISPR 15:2018).

Effective July 1, 2022, the new standard edition will be applicable to lighting products for testing and certification.

GB/T 17743-2021 will replace the existing edition of GB/T 17743-2017 as one of the reference EMC standards together with GB 17625.1 for CCC certification of lighting products.

Effective July 1, 2022, CCC applicants can start testing and certification activities based on GB/T 17743-2021, but mandatory dates — the compulsory implementation period — have not yet been defined by the China Quality Certification Center (CQC). This also means that impacts to existing test report and certificates are not available yet and will be defined in the following months.

CCC certification organizations like CQC are expected to issue a notification guideline related to the effectiveness of the new standard and recommended actions for applicants/manufacturers to facilitate the transition plan.
