Details
On May 1, 2014, the new China national standard GB/T 29862-2013 Textiles-Identification of Fiber Content will replace the FZ/T 01053-2007. Textile and apparel products placed on the Chinese market are subject to a number of mandatory quality and safety requirements expressed through mandatory national (GB) standards. Products that fail to meet the mandatory GB standards may not be placed on the China market.

Why It Matters
Jointly issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China and the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China, the standard includes:

  • Labeling requirements
  • Marking principles

  • Allowable deviation and judgment of label conformity
  • Examples of textile fiber content

Major changes include:

  • Cause 6.13: "Not main component of product" revise to “non-exposed parts and some small parts”; at the part where the fiber element may not be indicated, add connecting lines and partial filling; Add “except non-exposed components like as lining, cushion, inner lining, etc.”
  • Cause 6.14:  Add film products into non-fiber matter that are hard to remove and identify whether coating or glue is contained as required;  Add examples
