Sustainability is changing consumer preferences as there is a growing concern about how retailers, brands and manufacturers commit to protect the environment and human well-being.
It is important that companies start their path to a more sustainable approach along the supply chain and communicate this to their consumers in the right way.
One great tool to show commitment to making more sustainable products is the use of claims on the article itself or on the packaging, and in social media and website communication channels.
Nevertheless, a great deal of attention should be taken to not fall into greenwashing, the process of exaggerating environmental claims that can mislead consumers. Being labelled as greenwashed can cause damage to a brand, create a negative perception by consumers and cause risk of penalty fines.
UL is happy to sponsor and join the panel discussion “Sustainability and Children: When Marketing is Responsible” organized by KIDS MARKETING DAY at the Milano Licensing Day event.
We look forward to an interactive conversation about greenwashing and sharing insights on Environmental Claim Validation with international consumer products stakeholders. The discussion will be in Italian.
