Explore how the life cycle assessment (LCA) method, based on ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, evaluates a product across its entire journey, from cradle to end of life.

UL Solutions works with customers across a range of sectors who are navigating complex regulatory and voluntary net-zero targets. Understanding Scope 3 products—those with an indirect impact or outside a company’s production cycle—can be challenging.

Our new LCA services include full life cycle assessments, simplified LCA products and targeted services such as environmental product declarations (EPDs) and product carbon footprints (PCFs). These tools support regulatory requirements, identify hot spots and help guide strategies for reducing negative impacts on the environment.
We provide specific examples in building products, materials, and electronic products.

Learning objectives include:

  • How LCA is evolving in today’s fast-paced technology landscape
  • The role of recycled content in reducing product impact
  • How LCA services help in product design and development
  • Ways to address missing data gaps to conduct LCA
  • Why mass balance is essential to decarbonization and reducing the use of virgin materials
