Winn Henderson serves as UL Solutions principal engineer for optical radiation, which includes laser, LED/lamp and UV radiation product safety. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, and he has been working in optical radiation-related product safety at UL Solutions since 1997.
In his role, Henderson serves as the technical leader at UL Solutions in optical radiation safety standards (e.g., IEC 60825 series, FDA/CDRH 21CFR, IEC 62471 series, EN 50689, etc.). He is deeply involved with the UL Solutions business development team to develop UL Solutions’ capabilities for new optical radiation services and technologies.
He provides internal and external optical radiation-related training and develops UL Solutions guidelines on optical radiation compliance matters.
Henderson serves as secretary on the IEC TC76 committee: Optical Radiation Safety and Laser Equipment. He also participates as a co-convenor on both IECEE CTL ETF11: Lasers and IECEE CTL WG06: Photobiological Safety. Also, on IECEE CTL ETF11, he serves as a technical adviser for the Proficiency Testing Program (PTP).
