There is confusion in the wire and cable industry regarding halogen free (HF) and low smoke halogen free (LSHF) product claims. In this presentation, we will provide clarity regarding these claims.
We will present a summary of current smoke/halogen content standard requirements, discuss newly developed standard activities and the relevant test methods. We will also cover industry demand drivers and why low smoke halogen free products are important. In this presentation, will also identify the demand drivers for these product claims, as well as the safety implications for the wire and cable industry and end users.
These topics will be discussed from the perspectives of certification/standardization, cable compound suppliers and manufacturers.
