Recyclability Environmental Claim Validation (ECV)

We help you to qualify your products to earn points toward Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification, which can raise your visibility among key specifiers.

In UL ECV Procedure 2789, recyclability is clearly defined, carefully measured and thoroughly vetted so that recyclability claims are specific and meaningful. It calls for the disassembly and sorting of component parts into the following materials categories:  batteries, metals, glass, plastics, mixed electronics and nonrecyclables. A threshold is given of total product parts that must be recyclable to achieve validation.

Our Recyclability ECV enables you to qualify your products in an effort to earn points toward LEED Certification. Achieving certification can raise your visibility among key specifiers and help you tap into markets demanding verifiably recyclable products.

Once your products have achieved our Recyclability ECV, you may use the UL Environment ECV badge on your product packaging and marketing materials. This badge communicates to customers and prospects that your products have been tested and independently validated by a neutral third party — providing you with a distinct advantage in an ambiguous green marketplace.

Additionally, all of your validated products will be featured on the UL SPOT® Product Guide, a free online tool that enables specifiers and other purchasers to identify products by product category, company name, product name or type of claim.
