Quickly, easily and efficiently access U.S., Canadian and international markets with UL’s most recent expansion of its North American CB Scheme testing capabilities.

To stay relevant in the marketplace, international trade is a must. While it may seem overwhelming to achieve multiple national certifications to make trade easier, navigating the CB Scheme with UL can help make the process quite simple.

What is the CB Scheme?

The CB Scheme is the world’s first truly international system for mutual acceptance of test reports and certificates by participating safety certification organizations for certain products. The CB Scheme is an international network made up of product certification organizations in more than 40 countries throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. It is overseen by the International Electrotechnical Committee for Conformity Testing to Standards for Electrical Equipment (IECEE).

Each participating country has one or more organizations acting as National Certification Bodies (NCBs). As an expert participant and leading member of the IECEE CB Scheme, UL operates four National Certified Bodies (NCBs) in the U.S., Canada, Denmark and Japan, as well as over 50 Certified Body Testing Laboratories (CBTLs) around the world, offering you the proven benefit of one-stop access to international markets.

New North American CB Test Laboratory Expansion

Recently, UL’s Melville, NY and Northbrook, Ill. test laboratories expanded their CB Scheme scopes to include new standards in the product types below. With this expansion, UL is currently the only North American test laboratory able to issue a UL Mark and CB Scheme Test Report and Certificate under one evaluation for the product types below.

Melville, NY
