Overview of valve testing, evaluation and certification

We provide testing, certification and standards development for all types of valves used in fire suppression systems, including:

  • Alarm valves
  • Check valves
  • Deluge valves
  • Dry-pipe valves
  • Butterfly valves 
  • Pilot operated valves
  • Pressure reducing and pressure restricting valves
  • Trim and drain valves
  • Ball valves
  • Fire pump relief valves

Valves are subjected to performance tests in accordance with each respective standard. 

We test to UL Standards, and the requirements for the installation and use of these valves are included in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) installation standards for valves: NFPA 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 22 and 24. We are also authorized to certify valves to Canadian standards.

Valves compliant with European Norm (EN) valve testing standards may use the CE Mark for the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), which applies to European products incorporated into permanent structures.
