UL warns of bird deterrent systems with unauthorized UL Marks

NORTHBROOK, Ill. - Sept. 1, 2009 - Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is notifying regulatory agencies, authorities having jurisdiction, and consumers that the Bird Deterrent Systems, identified below, bear unauthorized UL Marks for the United States and Canada. 

These products have not been evaluated by UL for use as a bird deterrent. The products are UL Listed electric fence controllers intended to be used in the containment of livestock. The indicated use as a bird deterrent has not been evaluated by UL, and such, fence controllers are not authorized to bear the UL Listing Mark.

Name of product: "Bird-B-Gone" Models CHG-AC750 and CHG-ACSS5. "Bird Shock" Model SS-55 BB.

Number of units: Up to 1000 Bird-B-Gone. Up to 250 Bird Shock.

Date of manufacture: May 2007 to December 2008 for Bird-B-Gone; December 2007 to March 2009 for Bird Shock.

Manufacturer: Woodstream Corporation

Identification:  On the product: The name "Bird-B-Gone" and a circle with a slash through a drawing of a bird, and the statements, "Electronic Bird Abatement for Birds and Small Animals." The Model designations found on the product as CHG-AC750 and CHG-ACSS5.

The name "Bird Shock," with the statement "Electric Bird Track Controller." It is further identified with "Bird Barrier America, Inc." The Model designation found on the product is SS-55 BB.
