UL, in a continuing effort to advance manufacturing innovation, safety and quality, has become a sponsor of mHUB Chicago. mHUB, Chicago's first innovation center for physical product development and manufacturing, is a co-working community of product designers, developers, entrepreneurs, engineers and manufacturers.
Manas Mehandru, mHUB Director of Operations, believes the growing relationship between UL and his organization as a natural fit. “Sponsors like UL provide critical support to help us achieve our economic vision for the Chicago region. They enable us to provide our members with unparalleled product and go-to-market insights and access to a wide support network of manufacturing and business leaders. We look forward to adding UL’s safety, security and sustainability expertise to the mHUB community.”
Located in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant entrepreneurial Tech Triangle, mHUB’s 63,000 square-foot facility contains 10 fabrication labs, including electronics, plastic fabrication, metals, textiles and 3D printing, as well as a microfactory for small production runs.
UL isn’t wasting any time getting involved. Initially, UL will collaborate on optimizing mHUB’s product testing lab. Additionally, Todd Denison, UL VP and General Manager, recently participated on a panel addressing innovation, product sourcing, business best practices and supplier networks.
Fostering connections between local manufacturers, university researchers and Chicago’s entrepreneurial community of makers and technologists as well as investors, mHUB ensures that the Midwest region’s manufacturing industry continues to grow, lead, and reduce the cost and barriers to entry for physical product innovation.
