On Sept. 10, 2026, the European Commission (EC) officially published Commission Delegated Regulation 2026/1423 as regards chlorpyrifos.
The regulation adds chlorpyrifos (CAS No. 2921-88-2) to Annex I Part A of Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants (POPs), making it a substance subject to POP restrictions. This regulation establishes a concentration limit value of 0.01 mg/kg (0.000001% by weight) when chlorpyrifos is present in substances, mixtures or articles. Materials containing chlorpyrifos above this concentration will fall within applicable POP prohibitions.
Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 implements the EU’s international commitments under the Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants (chemical substances).
The regulation took effect on Sept. 30, 2026.
