On June 30, 2026, the European Commission (EC) adopted Commission Delegated Regulation regarding chlorpyrifos.
The Regulation aims to add chlorpyrifos (CAS No. 2921-88-2) to Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), making it a substance subject to POPs restrictions. This Regulation also establishes a maximum concentration limit of 0.01 mg/kg (0.000001% w/w) for chlorpyrifos as an unintentional trace contaminant in substances, mixtures and articles.
Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 implements the EU’s international commitments under the Stockholm Convention on POPs (chemical substances).
The prohibition will be enforced on the 20th day following the publication of this regulation in the Official Journal of the European Union. The adopted Commission Delegated Regulation has not yet been published in EUR-Lex at the time of publishing.
