TORONTO, Ontario, Feb. 14, 2008 -- Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) is notifying regulators, distributors and property owners that it has discovered certain thermal detectors could potentially bear a counterfeit certification listing mark for Canada. These thermal detectors have not been evaluated for safety by ULC.

Distributed by: Known to be distributed by ADI/Burtek
Identification: The product has a label bearing the name Sentry Imports and is marked with an unauthorized ULC Mark that consists of the letters ULC in a circle, the word "Listed" and one of the following descriptions:
SEN-245A 135°F
A limited quantity of authorized units were manufactured prior to January 1994. Products produced after January 1994 are counterfeit and not authorized to bear the ULC Mark.
Hazard: The SEN-245A 135°F thermal detectors have not been evaluated by ULC. The performance characteristics for these thermal detectors are unknown.

What you should do: ULC recommends that qualified service personnel replace the counterfeit thermal detectors with ULC Listed thermal detectors. It is also recommended that the local fire or building department be notified.
