Certification Oversight & Appeals Committee launched for Tooling-U SME and UL Additive Manufacturing Professional Certification Program

August 27, 2018

UL and SME, a manufacturing association promoting the interests of manufacturing industries, introduced a Certification Oversight & Appeals Committee focused specifically on the joint Tooling-U SME and UL Additive Manufacturing Professional Certification Program.

The committee, established in July of this year, is currently comprised of six practitioners and subject matter experts from the AM industry and academia. Its purpose is to evaluate certification exam performance on a yearly basis to ensure each item is performing accurately. It is responsible for responding to all requests for certification appeals, verifies that candidates are offered the proper tools they need while preparing for the examinations, and makes recommendations for the development of said tools.
