Testing, certification and inspection services for MV and HV cable system performance

Medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) power cable systems connect electrical power systems. We support product manufacturers with safety certification and performance verification services to standards for power cables, including  UL 1072, the Standard for Medium-Voltage Power Cables, as well as those by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Mexican Quality Standards (NMX), Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC) and Insulated Cable Engineers Association (ICEA).

Services and deliverables

  • UL Certification for MV cables (UL 1072) and MV accessories (IEEE 386, IEEE 48 and IEEE 404).
  • Type test reports including reports for qualification, prequalification and extended qualification testing can be performed using UL Solutions laboratories, partner laboratories or customer-designated facilities as long as they meet our Data Acceptance Program (DAP) CTDP (customer lab) or TPTDP (third-party lab) requirements. UL Solutions experts may also be present to perform witnessed testing, when applicable, via our DAP Witnessed Test Data Program (WTDP).
  • Combination testing services, such as UL 1072 with ICEA S-94-649 and/or CSA 68.5.
  • Factory audits and inspections.
