Demystifying Small-Scale Flammability Testing

Understand the flammability rating hierarchy of UL 94 and how to relate material performance properties to end-product safety requirements.

Plastic flame test

The most globally accepted testing performed on materials is flammability. During this webinar, UL will explain the details of the small-scale flammability testing and requirements covered in UL 94, the Standard for Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, which determines the material’s tendency to either extinguish or spread the flame once the material has been ignited.

Learning objectives:

•    How to relate material performance properties to end-product safety requirements
•    Detailed preselection and end-product flammability test methods
•    Identify suitable materials using UL’s Product iQ® database

Speaker:

Kenneth R. Vessey, Jr., senior staff engineer and distinguished member of technical staff, UL
