On Dec. 12, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) approved a direct final rule for bassinets and cradles under section 104 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA).

This direct final rule updates 16 CFR part 1218 to incorporate by reference the revised voluntary standard, ASTM F2194-25. ASTM F2194-25 includes several additions and revisions, including new definitions, new performance requirements and test methods, clarifications to existing requirements, as well as editorial revisions that do not alter substantive requirements in the standard or impact safety.

The rule is effective on Feb. 21, 2026, unless the Commission receives a significant adverse comment during the comment period, which closed on Jan. 12, 2026.
