RoHS Regulation Updates for Electrical and Electronic Products

The government of China has adopted the following test method standards for the conformity assessment system for restricted use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products.

  • GB/T 39560.1 - Introduction and overview
  • GB/T 39560.2 - Disassembly, disjointment and mechanical sample preparation
  • GB/T 39560.301 - Screening lead, mercury, cadmium, total chromium, and total bromine
  • GB/T 39560.4 - Mercury in polymers, metals, and electronics
  • GB/T 39560.5 - Cadmium lead and chromium in polymers and electronics and cadmium and lead in metals
  • GB/T 39560.6 - Polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in polymers
  • GB/T 39560.701 - Hexavalent chromium
  • GBT/39560.702 - Hexavalent chromium

Starting March 1, 2024 – testing methods for qualification assessment of the restriction on hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products shall be done according to the GB/T 39560 series standards.

Before March 1, 2024 – for those who have completed the qualification assessment according to GB/T 26125, the transition to the new standards will be accomplished through a process of certificate renewal and product changes.

Before March 1, 2024 – products that have already been manufactured or imported do not need to undergo standard conversion.
