Overview of Proposition 65
The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (also known as Proposition 65), is a 1986 California law developed to keep substances that cause cancer and birth defects out of consumer products. Companies whose products who contain these toxic substances and exceed acceptable exposure levels are required to label their products accordingly or face potential legal action.
