Northbrook, Ill., March 12, 2021 – UL, a global safety science leader, today announced the expansion of their  independent field testing services into the Northeast market.

The services help building owners, architects, builders, consultants and designers in the area mitigate risk, meet regulatory demands and protect their brands by evaluating and validating the performance and compliance of building envelope products, systems and assemblies during and after installation per project and industry standards. UL LLC is accredited by IAS as an ISO/IEC 17025 testing laboratory, as well as by the American Architectural Manufactures Association (AAMA) Laboratory Accreditation Program as a full service laboratory.

Derek Cavataio, engineering leader for UL’s building science business, said, “This expansion of services allows us to meet our customers’ needs when and where they require it most. UL deploys highly experienced, New York-based field testing staff to local locations in order to perform on-site testing.”

Customers can also utilize the capabilities of UL’s full-service laboratory, including Performance Mock-up (PMU) testing and product and material testing. Ultimately, customers have an accurate and thorough understanding of the performance of the building enclosure systems installed on their projects. UL helps customers improve the performance of their buildings, save valuable time and money, and gain the confidence and trust of industry stakeholders.

“For decades, UL customers have relied on our experience with virtually all products within buildings to establish marketplace confidence and to help sharpen their competitive edge,” said Chris Hasbrook, vice president and general manager of UL’s Built Environment customer operating unit. “Now they can also rely on UL to provide building stakeholders with trust in the performance of the envelope systems that enclose their buildings, throughout New York City and the entire Northeast market.  Field performance testing is valuable to help avoid the cost, aggravation and disruption of future problems with these systems.”
