Fire barrier management that supports compliance

UL Solutions Fire Barrier Management Program brings together field inspections of passive fire protection systems, audits of contractor quality management systems through audits to meet UL Solutions program requirements. We also provide education and advisory services so owners and project teams can address requirements of passive fire protection systems installed throughout the building lifecycle.  

As a qualified third party, UL Solutions conducts Firestop Special Inspections and NFPA 80 fire door and damper inspections on new and existing buildings to meet code‑requirements. Our field staff can inspect for compliance with listed systems or engineering judgments and prepare reports for firestop, grease ducts, SFRM, intumescent, board wrap, endothermic and blanket wraps.

The International Building Code has required special inspection of firestop penetrations and joints since 2015. UL Solutions performs these in accordance with ASTM E2174 and ASTM E2393, applicable codes and listing criteria, helping verify that firestop installations meet code intent and project specifications.

UL Solutions supports projects with quality control, submittal review and identifying areas of concern, along with jobsite education to help teams align installations with listings and code expectations. Additionally, we can review the applicability of passive fire protection systems to the codes, standards and specific installations at project sites.
