The third webinar in this series, “How To Adopt a System PRO: Expert Insights on UL iQ™,” provides advanced information about system adoption and using the UL iQ™ database to search for materials and develop a system.

Webinar date: July 5, 2022

Speaker: Rita Chiodini, staff engineer, UL Solutions

Moderator: Hagen Fasel, product manager, UL Solutions

This webinar will help you deepen your understanding of certification standards and evaluation of EIS safety and performance and explore your options when you face materials shortages.

Learning objectives:
  • A recap of EISs and types of components
  • Tips for in-depth EIM and nonelectrical insulating material (NIM) research using the UL iQ™ database for EIS
  • Reading and interpreting fine print, comments and notes in UL iQ™
  • Developing awareness about additional information needed to develop a system

An electrical insulation system (EIS) comprises a unique combination of materials that have been confirmed for chemical compatibility when used at certain maximum temperatures. If you work in the electrical insulation systems industry, testing and certification can help you confirm that individual insulation materials can meet the applicable safety and performance standards in shared environments in complex electrical systems.

Manufacturers must use quality electrical insulation materials (EIMs) to create a reliable, high-performance EIS. When building magnetic devices — such as motors, transformers, generators and solenoids — they must thoroughly review the selected materials. Material shortages common today require manufacturers’ flexibility in their use of materials.
