NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Dec. 9, 2025 — UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS), a global leader in applied safety science, issued a public notice regarding HAKINAKU carbon monoxide detectors (product model HD09), which bear unauthorized UL certification marks and may pose safety risks.
These products, sold by CWQ-US through Amazon.com, have not been evaluated by UL Solutions to the appropriate safety standards, and it is unknown whether they meet any safety requirements. UL Solutions recommends that these products be removed from service and replaced with a properly UL certified carbon monoxide detector.
The affected carbon monoxide detectors bear an unauthorized UL certification mark and the following on the product labels:
- HAKINAKU
- Carbon Monoxide Detector
- Product Model: HD09
- Lithium Battery Capacity: 1000mAh (3.7V)
- Charging Input: DC 5V1A
- Manufacturer: Shenzhen Huidu Technology Co. Ltd.
“The presence of unauthorized UL Marks on these devices is a serious concern,” said Karine Johnfroe, vice president and general manager of the Built Environment group at UL Solutions. “We urge anyone who has purchased these devices to remove them from service immediately and replace them with a properly UL certified carbon monoxide detector.”
