UL Partners With IGS for Toy Safety in Indonesia

September 14, 2015

UL Consumer Products has signed a partnership agreement with Integrita Global Sertifikat (IGS) to help deliver quality assurance services to UL clients manufacturing and marketing their products in the Indonesia market, notably toys and children’s products. IGS is a certification body based in Jakarta accredited by the Indonesian Ministry of Industry.

Why It Matters

In 2013 Indonesia signed Regulation Number 24/M-IND/PER/4/2013 to mandate the use of SNI and other technical specifications for toy safety. The new law imposed mandatory standards to a list of toys products identified under specific HS tariff codes. Manufacturers of such toys shall certify (Product Certification) that the toys comply with the appropriate mandatory SNI safety standards. The certification is needed on a by every shipment basis and it could only be issued by an accredited certification body (LsPro).
