European Union Provides REACH Requirements for Chemical Testing

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has provided requirements for chemical testing under Annex VII and VIII of Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).

The requirements state that non-animal testing shall be imposed when performing the following:

  • Skin corrosion/irritation
  • Serious eye damage/eye irritation
  • Acute dermal toxicity and skin sensitization

New requirements went into force on June 21, 2016.
