Functional Safety is increasingly being relied upon to maintain safe operating conditions within the machinery space, whether it be through the use of an Emergency Stop, a light curtain, interlocking covers and switches, motor drives and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to make correct and safe decisions. These systems, along with the safe integration of these systems into solutions, require careful consideration by their manufacturers of the ways that these systems are developed and also the ways that these systems could fail in a dangerous manner.
