The IECEx (IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Certification to Standards relating to Equipment for use in Explosive Atmospheres) Management Committee approved appointment of Jasmin Omerovic, conformity assessment program principal at UL (Demko), as IECEx Testing and Assessment Group (ExTAG) deputy chair for a three-year term of office beginning Jan. 1, 2021.

Developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the IECEX is a multilateral certification system best known for its IECEx (Certified Equipment) Scheme. Over 4,500 certificates are issued annually to facilitate trade and reduce entry barriers for electrical and nonelectrical products of various industries in accessing global markets.

Throughout his career, Omerovic has focused on policy, scheme management, business and technical development related to global and regional conformity assessment.
