We are proud to share that EcoVadis recently awarded UL Solutions a silver medal for our Corporate Sustainability program and environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting. Our Corporate Sustainability team submitted our third annual questionnaire to EcoVadis, a sustainability ratings provider, for reassessment in November 2023. Our score increased by 15 points over the prior year, earning us a silver medal. This increase moved UL Solutions into the top 9% of companies in our industry and the 87th percentile of all reporting EcoVadis customers, which includes more than 100,000 companies worldwide.
EcoVadis
EcoVadis helps businesses assess and manage sustainability practices within their supply chain while driving ESG improvements, issuing subscribers an annual sustainability scorecard based on the EcoVadis assessment. More than 100 of UL Solutions’ customers request our company scorecard through EcoVadis, making our 2019 decision to start participating clear as we strive to increase reporting transparency, improve our corporate sustainability efforts and meet our customers’ needs.
The EcoVadis assessment includes a comprehensive list of questions across four categories: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Teams across the business collaborate to provide the requested ESG data that forms the assessment responses and our annual sustainability reporting.
“We’ve come a long way since our first EcoVadis assessment in 2019,” said Barbara Guthrie, vice president of Corporate Sustainability at UL Solutions. “I am so proud that we raised our score an additional 15 points in one year, moving from a bronze to a silver medal and validating our program efforts.”

We have worked diligently as a company to improve and be transparent about our sustainability efforts. Our scores have increased year over year, which we credit to many program advancements.
Among the most impactful changes UL Solutions has made is increasing our ESG transparency. We were able to provide more complete responses to the questionnaire due to more robust data quality, assurance and management practices. Another critical performance improvement that positively impacted our score is our commitment to setting global greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets in line with climate science through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Third-party assurances on our global emissions data and developing and improving company policies and procedures reflecting our social sustainability efforts also positively impacted our score.
