UL Solutions was honored with the Robert W. Campbell Award from the National Safety Council (NSC), one of the council’s highest recognitions for excellence in workplace safety leadership.
The award recognizes organizations that demonstrate exceptional environmental, health and safety (EHS) management systems, visible leadership commitment, and continuous improvement as a core business function. UL Solutions was selected for its enterprise‑wide approach to EHS and for embedding safety as a foundational element of its culture and operations.
“We’re deeply honored to receive the Robert W. Campbell Award from the National Safety Council, as it’s a powerful affirmation of our mission of working for a safer world,” said Jennifer Scanlon, president and CEO of UL Solutions, during the award ceremony in Baltimore on May 6. “Safety is in our DNA, and it’s embedded in our culture. From the way we operate to the solutions we deliver, advancing safety has defined UL Solutions for more than 130 years.”
With a century‑long history, the National Safety Council is a global leader in safety expertise and among the leading U.S. nonprofit safety advocates. Named for the council’s first president, the Robert W. Campbell Award honors organizations that integrate EHS principles into business strategy and day‑to‑day decision‑making.
"At UL Solutions, safety goes beyond compliance—it is a vital component of both operations and culture,” said Lorraine Martin, NSC CEO. “The National Safety Council is proud to bestow UL Solutions with the Robert W. Campbell Award in recognition of their accomplishment in instilling safety as a value for all employees, making safety personal rather than procedural.”
During the review process, NSC judges cited UL Solutions’ strong leadership accountability, collaboration between EHS and operations teams, proactive risk management practices and global safety standards and systems that employees understand and embrace. Judges also noted how safety is reinforced through daily behaviors, including regular safety moments, open reporting of concerns and the sharing of lessons learned across teams.
“Because we are a safety science company, this award carries special significance for us,” Scanlon said. “It affirms our commitment not only to our mission, but to our responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our people. At UL Solutions, safety is not something we manage alongside the business. It is the business.”
UL Solutions joins a select group of organizations to receive the Robert W. Campbell Award. The company views the recognition not as an endpoint, but as a responsibility to continue strengthening safety leadership, systems and culture across its global operations.
