NORTHBROOK, Ill. — April 10, 2026 — UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS), a global leader in applied safety science, today introduced new testing services for Aliro, an industry standard designed to help digital keys and smart locks work securely and consistently across devices and brands.
With digital access becoming common in apartments, offices, hotels, campuses and smart homes, manufacturers face growing expectations to deliver products that are secure, reliable and compatible across platforms. UL Solutions’ new Aliro testing services are designed to help them meet those expectations by assessing whether products perform as intended and protect sensitive credentials during use.
“As digital access becomes part of everyday life, manufacturers need to deliver products that work seamlessly and safeguard user data,” said Sherry He, vice president and general manager of the Consumer, Medical and Information Technologies group at UL Solutions. “Our Aliro testing services help them bring trusted, compatible solutions to market with confidence.”
Developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, Aliro 1.0 sets a common foundation for mobile access by defining how smartphones, wearables, readers and access control systems interact. As an authorized testing laboratory, UL Solutions now evaluates whether products meet the standard’s expectations for performance, interoperability and security across Near-Field Communication, Bluetooth Low Energy and Bluetooth Low Energy plus Ultra-Wideband technologies.
“With more than a decade of experience supporting certification for Connectivity Standards Alliance technologies like Matter and Zigbee, we’re pleased to see UL Solutions extend its proven testing capabilities to Aliro, helping ensure products meet the high bar for interoperability, performance, and security required for certification,” said Jon Harros, Head of Testing and Certification, Connectivity Standards Alliance.
By identifying issues earlier in development and supporting certification efforts, the testing can help manufacturers improve user experience, reduce integration challenges and strengthen trust in connected access systems. In addition to existing testing capabilities for Bluetooth, Matter, Thread and Zigbee technologies, the launch expands UL Solutions’ broader Internet of Things testing work, where interoperability and security remain critical as more devices connect to buildings and networks.
