NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Dec. 19, 2025 — UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS), a global leader in applied safety science, issued a public safety notice regarding Vaultex fire-retardant pants, which bear an unauthorized UL certification mark on the packaging and may pose safety risks.

Fire-retardant, or flame-resistant, pants are specialized protective gear for workers in high-risk occupations to help protect them from burns caused by flash fires, electrical arcs and other heat hazards.

The fire-retardant pants described below have not been evaluated by UL Solutions to the appropriate safety standards. UL Solutions recommends that these products be removed from service, as their compliance with safety standards is unknown.

The affected fire-retardant pants bear an unauthorized UL certification mark — “UL” in a circle and the word “LISTED” — and the following on the packaging:

  • VAULTEX
  • 100% COTTON PANT WITH PROBAN FIRE RETARDANT FINISH
  • MADE OF FABRIC WHICH MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF
  • EN ISO 11612:2015
  • EN ISO 11611
  • EN 61482-1-2
  • NFPA 2112:2018
  • NFPA 70E
  • ATPV 8 AS PER ASTM 1959
  • HRC 2
  • NKM 38
  • MADE IN INDIA

The fire-retardant pants were found in Dubai but may be available in other areas.

“Falsely applying safety certification marks to personal protective equipment undermines the trust consumers place in safety standards and can expose users to serious risks,” said Karine Johnfroe, vice president and general manager of the Built Environment group, which tests and certifies personal protective equipment, at UL Solutions. “The unauthorized use of the UL Mark on these flame-resistant pants is deeply concerning, and we recommend that users immediately remove the affected products from service.”

UL Solutions leverages decades of experience in testing and certifying personal protective equipment (PPE) to help manufacturers efficiently and cost-effectively achieve compliance with the relevant safety standards. The UL Mark, widely recognized and respected around the world, indicates PPE has been certified to stringent safety standards and can provide manufacturers with a competitive advantage in the PPE market.
