NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Dec. 9, 2025 — UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS), a global leader in applied safety science, has issued a public safety notice regarding fire sprinklers that bear unauthorized UL Certification Marks and may pose safety risks.
The affected fire sprinklers are labeled with both “HD Fire” (HD in an oval) and “Viking” markings. UL Solutions has confirmed that neither HD Fire Protect Pvt Ltd nor Viking Fire Protection Inc. manufactured these products. UL Solutions has not evaluated these products to the appropriate safety standards, and it is currently unknown whether they meet any recognized safety requirements.
Authorized fire sprinklers from either manufacturer are not subject to this notice and will bear only their respective brand name — not both.
The unauthorized fire sprinklers can be identified by the following markings:
- Top: Viking
- Sides: HD in an oval, unauthorized UL Mark, FM, K790, ½, D-24
Fire sprinklers matching this description should be removed from service immediately to prevent potential safety risks. Distributors, installers and code authorities should be mindful when inspecting fire sprinkler systems and verifying product authenticity.
The affected fire sprinklers were discovered in Egypt, but may be available in other areas.
