NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Dec. 9, 2025 — UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS), a global leader in applied safety science, has issued a public notice regarding fire sprinklers that bear unauthorized UL Certification Marks for the United States and Canada, and may pose safety risks.
The affected products are labeled with the brand name TYCO and model number TY5151, but were not manufactured by TYCO. UL Solutions has not evaluated these products to the appropriate safety standards, and it is currently unknown whether they meet any recognized safety requirements.
The unauthorized fire sprinklers bear the following markings: TYCO; TY5151; LPCB; 155°F/93°C; SU; K=11.2; and an unauthorized C-UL-US Mark. Additionally, these sprinklers feature an o-ring type seal assembly, which is not used in authorized TYCO fire sprinklers. Authorized TYCO fire sprinklers, which are not covered by this notice, are not marked K=11.2, are not marked 155°F/93°C and do not utilize an o-ring type seal assembly.
Fire sprinklers matching the description of the unauthorized products should be removed from service immediately to prevent potential safety risks. Distributors, installers and code authorities should be mindful when inspecting fire sprinkler systems and verifying product authenticity.
The affected fire sprinklers were discovered in Bangladesh but may be available in other areas.
