Jennifer Scanlon, president and CEO of UL Solutions, served as honorary chair of the 23rd Annual Heroes Breakfast, presented by the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago, helping salute the inspirational honorees and raising support for the organization’s lifesaving mission.
Linda Chapin, UL Solutions executive vice president and chief human resources officer, who serves on the board of directors of the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago, also participated in the event. Scanlon and Chapin were proud to present awards to two of the honorees.
Drawing about 800 attendees to the Chicago Hilton, the April 30 Heroes Breakfast helped ensure that the Red Cross is prepared to respond to crises in the local community, across the country and around the world.
The focus of this annual event is to recognize a Class of Heroes in 12 categories, including Blood Services, Disaster Relief, Firefighter and Lifesaving Rescue.
“It is a great privilege to be here today at an event that celebrates Heroes who, like the Red Cross, work to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of an emergency,” Scanlon said. “These Heroes keep people safe during times of most critical need.”
Scanlon helped raise the profiles of individuals who were honored at the event, and she voiced her support for the organization’s overall mission. As the leader of a global safety science company, Scanlon is deeply committed to safety both on and off the job, and she encourages others to support the mission of the Red Cross.
At the Heroes Breakfast, Scanlon presented the 2025 Heritage Award to Jon Farney, president and CEO of State Farm. According to the Red Cross, the Heritage Award recognizes the consummate spirit of heroism and humanitarianism at a distinguished level. This award acknowledges the honoree’s long-term commitment to improving the lives of others through actions, deeds and philanthropic works in the corporate and civic communities.
Chapin presented the Global Citizenship Hero Award to Payman Rajaie, a high school student who performs advocacy work related to human rights.
