UL Purchases Acquirer Systems to Broaden UL’s Payment Test Tools Portfolio

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Nov. 24, 2015 — UL, a global safety science leader, today announced the purchase of Acquirer Systems, a market leader in testing software and tools for validation of complex payment environments.

UL bought Acquirer Systems to forge a complete portfolio of Test Tools & Simulators for the Payment industry through the combination of its Payment Host Test & Simulationcapabilities with UL’s Card and Payment Terminal offering. In addition, with this acquisition, UL extends its leadership in EMV migration services in the North American market while gaining cloud-based testing product capabilities.

Acquirer Systems, a privately held company based in Dublin, Ireland, offers solutions to help customers improve testing performance and take on complex payment technology changes, including payment system replacement, new payment card and terminal product development, and compliance with payment standards.

UL and Acquirer Systems’ combined portfolio will help strengthen global relationships with key customers. In addition, Acquirer Systems will leverage UL’s global scale and resources to expand into new markets.

Acquirer Systems’ 23 employees, including CEO Fergal Molloy, and co-founders Aidan Corcoran and Robin Hilliard, will join UL and remain with the company. The transaction closed on November 20.
