NORTHBROOK, Ill. Aug. 28, 2017 — UL (Underwriters Laboratories), a global safety science organization, named Sanjiv Sarwate, Senior Legal Director at Dell Inc., as the recipient of the first-ever UL Outstanding Brand Protection Partner Award for his commitment to public safety and support of UL’s anti-counterfeiting initiatives. Sarwate will be honored during the 2017 International Law enforcement IP Crime Conference Aug. 28 at the United National Headquarters in New York City.
Sarwate was a reliable partner in the 2017 joint investigation that yielded an estimated $1,000,000 in counterfeit laptop batteries and adapters — one of UL’s largest intellectual property seizures to date. He was a crucial resource, personally overseeing the verification of the counterfeit product, working with UL and local law enforcement to obtain a search warrant and execute the seizure. Sarwate continues to aid anti-counterfeiting efforts through education of law enforcement, attending regional trainings and conferences, and going above and beyond to help combat counterfeit goods.
