UL Continues Global Expansion for Juvenile Products

July 9, 2015

Details

UL Consumer Products continues its expansion of children’s and juvenile products capabilities with the ISO 17025 accreditation audit of its Enfield, CT laboratory for playgrounds (ASTM F1148 and EN71-8) as well as for children’s chairs and stools (ASTM F2613). The additional accreditations for the facility will be part of an overall global expansion, with major additional capabilities and accreditations in our China laboratories expected to be completed within the next few months. The new services will add to UL’s global testing capabilities in our Italy, United Kingdom, United States and Asia laboratories.

Why It Matters

Juvenile products are regulated on a global basis, and compliant product is mandatory. In the United States, as part of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), durable infant or toddler product standards may be adopted as Federal regulations, requiring testing by accredited laboratories that are accepted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). UL’s capability expansion at our global laboratories provides that required third-party accredited laboratory testing.
