UL and Advanced Furniture Testing Provide US Performance, Durability Testing

February 5, 2014

Northbrook, IL Feb. 5, 2014 – UL and Advanced Furniture Testing have signed an agreement to provide performance and durability testing for furniture in Advanced Furniture Testing’s Holland, Mich. facility.  Now, customers who work with UL can have their furniture performance and durability testing performed locally in Advanced Furniture Testing’s 17025-accredited laboratory.

In addition, Advanced Furniture Testing will begin expanding its capabilities this year to perform testing for UL furniture standards.  This will enable manufacturers to test in more locations and have greater access to performance and durability testing, including BIFMA standards and testing to UL standards.

“By combining UL’s leadership in safety standards for furniture with Advanced Furniture Testing’s leadership in furniture testing, this relationship will provide high quality testing to furniture customers in the Mid-West region of the US,” said Alberto Uggetti, Vice President and General Manager, UL’s furniture industry.  “Advanced Furniture Testing is known as a key innovator in testing, and is a logical and complementary choice to expand certification to UL safety standards in an important furniture manufacturing region.”

“Advanced Furniture Testing is pleased to join with UL to serve as a testing location for UL customers,” said Doug Woodard, President, Advanced Furniture Testing.  “We are looking forward to expanding our capabilities for UL standards, which will enhance the services we offer.”

In November 2013, Advanced Furniture Testing opened a 10,000 square foot lab in Jasper, Ind. to service manufacturers of cabinetry, casegoods and office furniture.  The lab will have BIFMA testing capabilities and UL customers can test in that location.
