UL to Add CTC Certified Products to SPOT® Online Database

May 29, 2018

MARIETTA, GA., May 29, 2018 — UL today announced that China Building Material Test & Certification Group Co. Ltd (CTC) certified products will be added to SPOT, UL’s web-based product sustainability information tool. The addition of CTC certified product data will provide SPOT users with access to sustainable products available in the Chinese market that meet their project needs.

CTC’s certified products will join more than 50,000 credible green products already on SPOT and enable architects, designers and professional purchasers to find products available in China that meet their sustainability needs. Additionally, UL developed an add-in for AutoDesk® Revit® users to access product data from SPOT and assign it directly to their project. CTC certified products will be included in this add-in, providing unprecedented visibility into trusted green product information and selection.

“China is the largest building market in the world and is quickly becoming one of the largest sustainable building markets,” said Weifang Zhou, president, UL Consumer. “With the addition of CTC certified products, SPOT will become a valuable product selection tool for architects, designers and builders in the Chinese market.”

“Through over sixty years of active exploration and tireless efforts, CTC has grown into one of the largest, most trusted third-party testing and certification companies in China for building materials and construction engineering,” said Zhenzhu Ma, general manager, CTC. “The inclusion of CTC certified products in SPOT enables our manufacturers to have more exposure for their products on a trusted product platform and helps architects, designers and specifiers access this information during the Building Information Modeling process.”

SPOT database is powered by UL, a leading safety science company and developer of globally-recognized sustainability standards with a 120+ year history. In addition to the SPOT add-in for Revit, UL is developing tools such as expanded listings to enhance the ability to find and select healthier, more sustainable products.
